Hey everybody! My name is Annie and I’m from the United States. I am currently completing a Bachelors in Business Administration at IE University in Spain!

Unfortunately, my exchange semester at UTS has recently come to an end. I had the time of my life in Sydney and would highly recommend heading down under!

UTS originally called out to me for its location, gorgeous campus, and seemingly friendly people. Luckily, these hopes were certainly the reality. I arrived in Sydney this past February, 2024. I made my way to Yura Mudang - the student residence on campus. Within the first week, I had met so many lovely people via roommates, housing activities, and random outings with other exchange students. It was clear that everybody in this environment was eager to explore and create meaningful relationships.

Given the large quantity of exchange students, there were always people keen to travel and see everything that Australia had to offer. If you are thrilled at the thought of going on any and all types of adventures, this is definitely the right place. Whether that be surf camps, hiking, trying new foods, exploring nature, or checking out new neighborhoods, there are always other enthusiastic people at UTS to join along.

In terms of Sydney itself, I adored the different areas. Darling Harbour offers beautiful views and fun places to eat, Newtown has cute stores to poke into, George Street is always busy, Pyrmont is beautiful to walk around, and of course there are always new beaches to discover. It is safe to say that my Google Maps has many saved locations around the city.

I really enjoyed the courses at UTS and being able to choose from a wide variety of options. Some classes offer more intimate tutorials, some have online lectures, and some provide hands-on workshops. There are loads of options depending on what learning styles suit you best. The professors are also incredibly friendly and willing to help! I felt very comfortable and excited to learn in all of my classes, which I really value.

There is also plenty to do around campus! It was super cool to study at a university with many different types of buildings. The library is a beautiful spot to get some work done and the alumni green is perfect to hang out outside. Every part of campus felt different to one another, which was not something I was expecting, but really enjoyed. UTS is also conveniently located by Central station, so it is easy to get anywhere from campus. I would also definitely recommend grabbing a bite to eat at Chinese Noodle House nearby in Chinatown (get the braised eggplant!).

I cannot emphasize enough just how special this past semester was. If you are considering heading to UTS, go for it! I am so thankful for this opportunity and all the people I have met along the way. If you have questions about anything, please feel free to reach out and I would be happy to chat!

Thank you very much to the Global Mobility team for everything you have done for me and other study abroad and exchange students. We truly appreciate it.

Sydney, I’ll be back!
