Autumn 2024 Study Abroad student from Frankfurt School of Finance and Management

Frankfurt, Germany

Hello everyone! My name is Robin Klein.

I'm a 23 year old exchange student here at UTS and I'm about to complete my Master's degree in Finance at the University of Frankfurt, having previously completed a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration with a focus on Financial Services at a University in Mannheim, Germany. The semester I spent at the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) had a profound impact on my academic and personal development, largely due to the incredible atmosphere of the city, the consistently beautiful weather and the diverse range of characters and cultures I was introduced to.

The education at UTS was particularly practical. The curriculum was filled with practical applications, in-depth tutorials, challenging assignments and collaborative group projects that reflected real-world financial challenges. This approach not only sharpened my financial skills, but also enhanced my ability to translate complex theories into actionable strategies. It was great for me to see that from the range of topics I was able to choose from, I was actually able to find aspects that neeed more focus from a theoretical perspective for my personal goals.

The campus life at UTS was excellent and offered a wealth of opportunities to engage with the local culture and community. I went on various excursions that allowed me to discover iconic Australian landmarks, attended sporting events that introduced me to the Australian sporting fervour, and was active in several clubs that enriched my leisure time and broadened my social circle.

In addition, my career prospects were greatly enhanced by the supportive network at UTS. The university provided extensive resources and support to help international students like me with both academic and practical challenges. I often collaborated with peers from diverse backgrounds, which not only helped me build a robust professional network, but also gave me a better understanding of the global business landscape.

Looking back on my time at UTS, it was a transformative experience that pushed the boundaries of my understanding and skills, preparing me for a dynamic career in the global financial industry. I would urge any student considering a study abroad experience to take advantage of such opportunities for profound personal and professional development.
