Another #TakeOverTuesday! This time it’s my turn, I’m Valentin from Austria and this is about my Abroad Semester at the UTS.
That's where I am from: Tirol/Mieming:
versus my new home- quite different...
A typical day:
Getting up in Sydney couldn’t be different to what it is in Austria. Uni starts earliest at 9am and as I am living right at the campus there’s never a hurry in the morning, wherefore having a long lie-in has become a part of my daily routine. After a decent breakfast and a morning lecture at the business building (which is my absolute favourite) I enjoy having coffee with some friends at Chambers Fine Coffee. Some more studying at the library and my working day is over! The rest of the afternoon I enjoy doing some sports, either at the gym or taking a ride with the skateboard down the goods-line or darling harbour. Evenings are for the friends; we usually have dinner together in our flat or at one of many nice restaurants in the area.
When I am not studying you most likely find me…
chilling out at Darling Harbour, at the beach (especially on Sundays) or at the Yura Mudang rooftop - it never gets old…
My favourite thing about my experience so far is…
The trip to Fiji we did during the study vacations. Some friends from UTS were doing the island hopping over there, experiencing Fiji to its fullest! If you are interested in our journey, my friend Lukas Knecht wrote a blog about our adventure- check it out! Besides that, I really like the everyday life at the campus in Sydney, because that’s what makes us different to tourists. I think an exchange semester is all about being a part of a great community, feeling at home in a new city and creating memories that will stay with you for the rest of your life.
Something I want to tick off my bucket list:
Getting an Australian accent mate and throwing a shrimp on the barbie!
