Emma in #TakeOverTuesday

Emma Lausten

Denmark

Hej, my name is Emma and I would love to share my experience studying abroad in UTS with you.

Home University and Country

Aarhus University in Denmark

Studying

Corporate Law and Business Administration (it’s more fun than it sounds)

Favourite place in the world

The beach or my parents garden in the summer time.

A typical day in my role

I normally start my day eating a bowl of oatmeal (it reminds me of home and it’s cheap) and a cup of coffee. I like taking my time in the morning so it's often a longer process. Usually I will do some homework before going to school or else I will go off exploring Sydney with my partner in crime @mette_krabbe who I’m on exchange with and also share a room with – we spend a lot of time together haha.

When I’m not studying you’ll most likely find me.....

At the beach. I’m a sucker for the beach and the sun. As the weather gets better here in Sydney I use every chance I have to go to the ocean – I love it! It rains a lot in Denmark and it’s often cold (even in the summer time) so I almost feel an obligation to be outside enjoying it when the weather allows it. I also love sitting by the harbour drinking a cup of coffee and just watch people and thinking about how good life is.

My favourite thing about my experience abroad so far

That’s a hard question. There has been so many good experiences and I have met so many amazing people along the way. But one of my favourite things has to be the having an everyday life in another country. You experience another country in a totally different way than you would if you were here on holiday. It’s the small things in my everyday and the many possibilities to meet inspiring new people, learn and standing on my own two feet on the other side of the world. I also had the opportunity to go to Bali before I came to Sydney which is one of the most amazing places I’ve ever been!

Something I want to tick off my bucket list

I’m really exited about seeing the great barrier reef. That is something that I’ve always wanted to do. I think just being here in Australia and seeing all the beautiful nature is a thing to tick of in it self. I also really want to do bungee jumping or a sky dive. That could be pretty awesome.
